COVID19 Changes to Service
Volunteers, Care Receivers, Donors & Office Team,
On behalf of the Board of Directors & Office Team, Good Shepherd is grateful for our dedicated volunteers, persevering care receivers and donors. Please follow your local health department (Jefferson County Health Department, https://www.jchdwv.org) or preferred credible source of recommendations, and remember this is a temporary situation when we need to take the best care of each other and ourselves.
Volunteers
We want to recommend you forgo your face to face volunteer services during this time if you are 65 and older or have underlying health conditions. We will look forward to when you can return.
For now, some essential transportation such as trips to the dialysis center will continue. Outlined below are other
services.
Transportation Drivers and Youth Volunteers: On hold
Well Calls & Visits: Comfort calls are increased and continue, face to face visits on hold
Tips for Volunteers
- Help the senior stock up on prescriptions and other necessities, items delivered to front door.
- Request paper bags when possible.
- Consider buying a half-gallon of milk as opposed to a quart of milk to help supplies last.
- Use your judgment to help a senior stock up for the week.
New Enrollments
At this time, Good Shepherd is unable to accept new care receivers or project request; however, we can email the appropriate forms to begin the process. Enrolled or not, our Office Team and volunteers are happy to help seniors place grocery orders online for delivery. We can share informational resources and support with all.
